SOUL THIEF ~ Fools And Angels (2018)

Soul Thief ~ Fools And Angels

Like a fine malt whiskey, Fools and Angels is a blend of searing, barbed, guitar solo's mingling with a bed of smooth, drowsy, rhythmic pulses. Enhanced by the spaced out vocal delivery, Soul Thief has created a mesmerizing, addictive journey into sub consciousness.

The crystalline licks of Marcus Gage splinter and crackle like shards of glass from a shattered mirror, splinters embedding into the funk ridden bass of Robert Matthews whilst the entire utopian concoction is stalked throughout by the time keeping of the drumming of Stuart Barton all of which make up the ingredients of a heady potion of ethereal jams.

If your life is full of stress and the wolves are at the door of your mind at night, let Fools And Angels caress your speakers and watch those wolves dissipate in a flash of ether.

Fools and Angels is released 2nd February 2018

SOMALI YACHT CLUB ~ The Sea (2018)

Somali Yacht Club ~ The Sea

Needing a break from reality and crave music that delivers a plethora of chilled vibes, power packed with a surprise around every turn?  Here ya go then.  Wait for it...  Somali Yacht Club!!

Their newest album, "The Sea" is a definite prime example.  Within each track, you'll be sure to experience yourself being whisked away on a self induced "trip" into the great unknown. As a listener, you'll have the best of several world's.  "The Sea" offers up some really tight, instrumental mind bending riffs that's sure to stop you dead in your tracks. Oh, and it's only just begun from there!  Sit back and indulge in the heavy, spaced out psychedelic/stoner feel that's complimented with a tasty hint of prog.  You know it, this album brings it all to the table.

The superior talent that went into this album goes without saying, and is proof of how it all ties in together brilliantly.  Each track beginning with some of the most exemplary musicianship.  Flowing along with the perfectly timed, hypnotic vocals that pull you in even further.  While in the end, leaving you in a state of bliss~

UDYAT~ Udyat (2017)

Udyat ~ Argentina

A reptilian album, languishing in a wah drenched circadian rhythm, bathed in the strains of psychedelic, jazzy overtones before shedding it's skin in glorious, fuzz drenched riff adulation...and that's just one track.

The fuzz, although painfully thick, thankfully falls short of becoming impenetrable due to the chemistry being broken down by layers of grease and the grainy texture keeps it nice and abrasive.....premium quality stoner fuzz!

A cornucopia of sound, each track is extremely interesting, introspective even, until your senses are sent shuddering before an onslaught of (very early) Iommi influenced chops.

Its difficult to pick one particular highlight, there are many, but the closing track might just clinch it. 'Dos' barely manages to lift itself off the floor its so heavy, yet in true Udyat  fashion this lumbering monstrosity does manage to spread delicate wings occasionally and somehow take flight.

One of the best releases of 2017

CRAWL ~ 30 Year Suicide (2017)

Crawl ~ 30 Year Suicide

Georgia's Crawl has sucked up all the hate, frustration, bitterness, anger and angst and laid it all before us on a 7" platter containing 2 tracks of rejection of all hope. 30 Year Suicide delivers a sermon on the catastrophic breakdown of humanity, vocalist / guitarist Eric Crowe conducting a diatribe of wrongness and delivering its obituary while sounding as though his kneecaps are being drilled at the same time.
The cacophony is enhanced by endless waves of turgid, sludge caked drone, asphyxiated in leaden dirge. There's even a guitar solo in the first track 'Pornography of Grief but we're not talking licks here, rather the sound of an autopsy saw cutting through bone.

The second track, '30 Year Suicide' starts off with an almost post - doom feel, more restrained, but the menace that permeates this (unfortunately) short release soon metastizes into another agonizing black hole of doom.

Short and not sweet...not sweet at all.
